Residential Care Facilities with a
secured Dementia unit are appropriate for residents who
are at risk for wandering off the premises or into the
rooms of other residents in a disruptive manner. These
facilities provide security with alarms on the doors and
perimeter fencing. The residents have access to a large
indoor and outdoor area.
Residential secured facilities have structure activity
programs which will hopefully divert the residents' attention from
disruptive
behavior and provide quality of life. They have three shifts of staff
on duty 24 hours a day. There are six such units in San Mateo County
and
eight in Santa Clara County. The cost for Residential Secured Units is
$4100.00 to $5500.00 per month.
