San Mateo County: Private Room

Moderate - heavy care/expensive areas:

Less expensive areas: $2200.00 and up.

Santa Clara County Private Room

Moderate - heavy care/expensive areas:
$2800.00 - $4000.00 month

Shared rooms, expensive areas:
$1800.00 - 3000.00 month

Moderate to heavy care/less
$1600.00 - $2200.00 month

Shared room, less expensive area:
$980.00 - $1400.00 month.

SSI:
The Social Security Administration has interpreted federal regulations to mean that any contribution given directly to the facility on behalf of an SSI/SSP recipient will not count as income (i.e., will not reduce the recipient's SSI/SSP check) if the payment is used for items other than food, clothing, or shelter (e.g., care and supervision).

The current (April 1, 2005) SSI/SSP check is $991.00 per month including the voluntary $20.00 non-exempt income. The residential rate for those receiving two checks ($877.00 and $20.00) is $897.00 per month.

FYI: In 1995 we had 15-20 SSI vacancies which generally were located in south Santa Clara County. In April, 2005 we had great difficulty locating even one SSI* vacancy in either county. Each year the average room rate has increased $100.00-$200.00 per month while SSI increases have been $20.00 per month.

*Meaning willing to accept the $897.00 rate.
